Cuba hosts, starting today, International Nature Tourism Event



GRANMA,Cuba, Sep 24 (ACN) With 85 destinations distributed among the provinces of Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo, in the southeastern part of the country, the 14th International Nature Tourism Event (Turnat) 2024 kicks off today until the 29th.

Francisco Longino Franquiz, head of events of the Ecotur S.A. Travel Agency. -one of the organizers along with the Ministry of Tourism- recently pointed out that the event will feature six groups of routes, which include farm visits, hiking, photographic safaris, nautical destinations, accessible tourism and wellness, as well as trekking.

Turnat is designed for tour operators and also involves local stakeholders and communities and identifies new attractions and products, and builds catalogs to attract clients, he said.

The event is an opportunity to learn first-hand about Cuban nature and the protocols to protect it, and to understand how important it is for tourism offers of this kind to be present in the promotion of each destination, he added.

As regards the Turnat 2024 program, it is known that the six groups that will tour the area chosen this year for its celebration will hold simultaneous sessions.

There will also be lectures and visits to places that contribute to the development of agrotourism and are part of important Cuban natural and historic sites such as the Pico Real del Turquino, the Sierra Maestra, Las Coloradas Beach, the Gran Piedra and the Il and III Frente Oriental, Ecotur's head of events continued.

Turnat has a direct impact on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, through the enhancement of destinations from sustainability and environmental protection by reducing the carbon footprint, Longino Franquiz concluded.
