Havana, Sept 19 (ACN) Participants at a forum on International Parliamentary Diplomacy adopted a final declaration of the event, attended by the President of the Cuban National Assembly of Peoples’s Power Esteban Lazo at Havana’s Capitol Building, seat of Parliament.
During the final session, Cuban Parliament secretary Homero Acosta gave a key-note lecture on issues related to the international agenda of the Cuban legislative body.
As part of collateral activities, Esteban Lazo met with Bojan Torbica, chairman of the Serbia-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary Group; Fabiana Gabriela Martin, President of the Mercosur Parliament; Elias Castillo, President of the Latin American Parliament, and Gustavo Pacheco, President of the Andean Parliament.
Lawmakers, scholars and researchers from 18 countries gathered in Havana since Wednesday for this forum, which included key-note lectures, plenary sessions, and debates on the roles, strategies, and practice of the congress people in universal issues.
The forum dealt with issues relevant to the need to strengthen and honor international law, the defense of the multilateral system, global development challenges and climate change, as well as the legislative work to protect human rights.lc
