Havana, Sept 16 (ACN) The 10th Asia-Pacific Regional Encounter in Solidarity with Cuba will take place in China October 28-31, the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP) announced during a meeting Monday with Asia diplomats.
ICAP president Fernando Gonzalez appreciated the support given to hold the event by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and its president Yang Wanming, and by the Chinese embassy in Havana.
A hundred delegates expected to attend the event will ratify their support to the Cuban Revolution and other fair causes and will call to defend sovereignty, friendship and cooperation among the nations in a world of peace, Gonzalez said.
The encounter’s agenda will focus on three main topics: multilateralism, economic cooperation and parliamentary friendship with Cuba in Asia and the Pacific. Accords stemming from the forum will allow undertake future actions and strategies for cooperation and to mutual benefit the nations as alternative to the unilateral sanctions and the consequences of economic, political and financial blockades imposed on the nations, Cuba in particular, the official noted.
The exchange will target ways to strengthen the support of Cuba in defending its sovereignty and denouncing the economic siege imposed by Washington for more than 60 years now.
Meanwhile, Chinese ambassador Hua Xin said that the Solidarity Encounter will strengthen relations between China and Cuba and will express rejection of unilateral sanctions and the economic blockade against Cuba.
The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries will be a great host, take the invitation as an expression of friendship with the Cuban people, said the ambassador.
Previous Solidarity-with-Cuba encounters took place in India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Laos, the Philippines and Nepal.lc
