HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 11 (ACN) In a post on X, Political Bureau member Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power, recalled the renowned intellectual Eusebio Leal, considered the eternal groom of Havana for his work as historian and manager of the city’s heritage.
Lazo referred to Leal’s legacy as a referent of love and defense of Cuban history and national identity and described him as an exemplary deputy during his work as a member of Parliament from 1993 to 2018.
Eusebio Leal (1942-2020) was a specialist in archeological sciences and holder of a doctor’s degree in Historical Sciences from the University of Havana and a master’s degree in Latin American, Caribbean and Cuban Studies.
He was also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party since its 4th Congress in 1991 and deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power.
In 1967 he became the director of the Museum of the City of Havana, replacing his former teacher Dr. Emilio Roig de Leushenring.
