HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 10 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received Susana Sottoli, regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), who is on a working visit to Cuba.
During their meeting, Ms. Sottoli stressed that her organization is pleased and honored to count on Cuba’s support at international level and acknowledged that, despite the challenges, the island is still a leader in reproductive health and population issues.
On his end, Díaz-Canel thanked UNFPA's support in difficult times in various areas, including demographics, counseling, and sexual and reproductive health.
“You are paying a timely visit, as we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of our relations,” the Cuban president remarked.
