Diaz-Canel assesses correction of distortions and economic recovery

 

PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba, Sep 6 (ACN) Presided over by Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and president of the country, began today in the Cuban westernmost province of Pinar del Rio the evaluation of the progress of the results of the territories in order to correct distortions and revitalize the economy in 2024.

In an extraordinary plenary session of the Provincial Committee of the Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the CC-PCC, explained that after visiting 88 municipalities of the country this year, these meetings will allow analyzing, from the highest political leadership body of the provinces, the conditions to finish the year with better economic and social results.

Yamile Ramos Cordero, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the PCC in this territory, said that the highest leadership of the country has visited six municipalities of Pinar del Rio this year, which has contributed to the updating of work strategies, based on issues such as attention to enterprises with losses, local production of construction materials, food production, policy of cadres, internal functioning of political and mass organizations, among others.

She detailed that the fiscal deficit is reduced by more than 230 million pesos and the head municipality and Viñales are already in surplus, thanks to the control actions.

The westernmost province complies with the total net sales, but 45 entities do not fulfill; likewise, the retail mercantile circulation grows compared to last year and is 77.5 %, still insufficient to satisfy the needs of goods and services of the population.
