Eastern Cuban province joins Peace Conference against terrorism

BAYAMO, Cuba, Sep 4 (ACN) With a tribute to the young Italian Fabio Di Celmo, killed by a bomb placed 27 years ago to the day at the Copacabana Hotel in Havana, the province of Granma joined the activities of the Peace Conference against the Blockade and Terrorism.

Students of the local Camilo Cienfuegos Military School gathered at the Wax Museum, where specialists talked about Fabio’s love for soccer and his fondness of Cuba at the foot of a life-size statue made in memory of this innocent tourist who lost his life to a bomb planted by the mercenary Raul Ernesto Cruz Leon, hired by CIA.

The day’s program also included the screening in the Historic Section of Bayamo of the film film Cuando la verdad despierta (When truth awakens), about the brutal act that cut short Di Celmo’s life at the age of 32, as well a tribute to the late American Reverend Lucius Walker, founding leader of the interreligious organization Pastors for Peace and a close friend of Cuba.

Organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) with a national and international scope, the Conference will be held until October 31.

ICAP provincial director Marcelino Guerra Rosabal stressed that the participants will also keep demanding the immediate end of the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people.
