HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (ACN) A group of 48 irregular migrants (43 men and five women) were returned to Cuba on Tuesday on a U.S. plane.
According to the island’s Ministry of the Interior, seven of the returnees had left the country illegally by sea, whereas the rest had left by legal means to other destinations and eventually joined irregular routes to reach the U.S. border.
Upon their arrival in Havana, one of them was arrested because he was wanted by the police at the time of his illegal departure.
So far this year, 1,030 of these illegal migrants have been sent back to Cuba from different countries in the region.
