Cuban women united for their Homeland

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Aug 20 (ACN) On the premise of ratifying themselves as an active force at the service of the Homeland, the members of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in this province celebrated the 64th anniversary of their organization.

FMC provincial secretary-general Elena Castillo referred to the local women’s achievements, including their good results in social services for vulnerable persons and their engagement in anti-crime programs in the communities, and praised the efforts that thousands of the members have deployed to improve the work of the organization and strengthen the commitment to continuity among the new generations.

“The Cuban Revolution can count on the unity of its women to win today’s and tomorrow’s battles and protect our accomplishments with bravery, resistance, and confidence in our victory, guided by the ever-living example of Vilma Espín, eternal president of the FMC,” she assured.

Since the triumph of the Revolution in January 1959, Cuban women have enjoyed equal rights and opportunities and have played a key role in the profound political, social, economic and legislative transformations undertaken in the country.
