MATANZAS, Cuba, Aug 13 (ACN) More than thirty drawings that arose from the contest "The Dream of the Homeland" are exhibited to greet the 98th anniversary of Fidel Castro's birth today, and to encourage the new generations to get closer to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
The tocororo, Cuba's national bird, the image of Cuba, radiant suns in blue skies, trees and busts of Jose Marti are among the recurring elements in the drawings conceived by 8- to 11-year-old children.
Sully Rodriguez Reyes, head of the Programming Department of the Provincial Directorate of Culture, explained that the contest was an initiative of the Provincial Council of Visual Arts in the western province of Matanzas and the La Ribera project.
The participation of children who attended summer workshops offered by the Lorenzo Padilla Art Museum and the Pedro Esquerre Gallery to encourage the development of creative skills and human values during the summer season was plentiful.
This August 13, Cuba commemorates the birthday of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and the people salute the date with diverse initiatives, among them cultural actions, blood donations and the inauguration of works for social benefit.
