Cuba’s legislative processes reminisce about Fidel

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 7 (ACN) Yamila Peña Ojeda, attorney general of the Republic, recalled the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in legislative processes under way in the country, such as the approval of the Social Communication Act, and stressed that the undisputed leader of the Cuban Revolution was an excellent communicator in the way he conveyed information and got his views across.

Regarding the role of the institutions in law enforcement, she remarked the need that public servants develop adequate communication skills, an endeavor underpinning the cooperation agreement that her office signed on July 31 with the Institute of Information and Social Communication to develop advisory, teaching and scientific research activities for its effective implementation.

The official highlighted the close link between the regulations and the institutional mission of the attorney general’s office to manage criminal investigation, the exercise of public criminal action, and the control of legality, as laid down in the Constitution.

Based on transparency, the provision of information and the engagement of the people to reach public consensus, the National Assembly of People's Power passed the Social Communication Act in 2023 as a legal instrument intended to regulate the system for the strategic and integrated management of social communication processes in terms of organization, press coverage and community involvement, as well as to establish operating principles for all media outlets.
