MATANZAS, Cuba, Jul 12 (ACN) In the Cuban western town of Union de Reyes, which bears the name of Juan Gualberto Gomez, will take place today the national event to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the birth of the famous patriot of the province of Matanzas.
Among the novelties of the day will be the reopening of the Municipal Museum of Union de Reyes, and will share knowledge the PhD in Historical Sciences Eduardo Torres Cuevas, director of the Office of the Program Martiano and president of the Cultural Society " Jose Marti".
Also Friday, professors, researchers, followers of the patriot's ideas and journalists are expected to visit the Museo Al Esclavo Rebelde in Triunvirato, and lay wreaths in tribute to the former delegate of the Cuban Revolutionary Party on the island.
Pedro Rizo Martinez, president of the Cuban Journalists Association in Matanzas, said that the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and other organizations such as the "Jose Marti" Cultural Society, the National Union of Historians of Cuba and the Provincial Government of the People's Power are joining forces for the tribute.
