Cuba reports accumulated rainfall rates in June



HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 2 (ACN) The accumulated rainfall recorded just last June in the country reached 174.9 millimeters (mms.), equivalent to 90% of the historical average, reported the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH).

In the case of the western provinces, the average amounted to 276.2 mm (120%), in the central provinces to 156.3 mm (75%) and in the eastern provinces to 108.5 mm (72%), according to the most recent water report of the institution, sent to the Cuban News Agency.

The most significant provincial figures were registered in the special municipality of Isle of Youth with 442.5 (197 %), Pinar del Rio 319.0 (142 %), Artemisa 317.1 (141 %), Mayabeque 284.4 (112 %) and Havana 260.7 (125 %).

The report mentioned that in the last 24 hours of that month, 17.4 mms were collected nationally, which represented 9% of the lifetime average, with significant levels in the western, central and eastern regions.

Five pluviometric stations exceeded 100.0 mms, and according to their statistics, on the morning of June 24, the volume of water retained in the country's reservoirs was 4923.24 million m3 (54% of the national capacity), which represents an increase of 30.1 million in relation to that collected on the 22nd.

The provinces with the highest fillings are: Santiago de Cuba, Pinar del Rio, Granma, and the special municipality of the Isle of Youth.
