HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 4 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, congratulated today the residents of Sancti Spiritus on the celebration of the 510th anniversary of the founding of his town.
The President on X highlighted the beauty and warmth of this territory in the center of the country, hometown of his life partner, Lis Cuesta.
Celebrate the joy of living in the fourth village of Cuba, between tradition and modernity, a hug, added Diaz-Canel in his message.
Many congratulations to the people and authorities of the city of Sancti Spiritus who are celebrating today the 510th anniversary of the founding of the Villa, said Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban PM, on the occasion of the date.
On the same social network, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, joined the celebration and described this new anniversary as a source of pride for all Cuba.
The foundation of the Villa de Sancti Spiritus, the fourth Spanish settlement in Cuban lands, took place on June 4, 1514 by Don Diego Velazquez de Cuellar and a group of Spanish soldiers.
