Havana, May 16 (ACN) Havana is hosting the 4th International Food Fair, May 21-23, aimed at encouraging foreign investment, increasing local production capacities and establishing links between state and private companies in the sector.
Pabexpo exhibit ground, in western Havana, will host the fair which will be attended by over one hundred companies—sixty of them from other countries, according to Liliana Mengana, international relations director at the Cuban Food Industry (MINAL).
Deputy minister of MINAL Orlando Borreo said that the private business experience along its linkage to state production entities has have yielded results since non-state companies provide raw materials while state enterprises contribute the industrial equipment and technology.
The goal of the state socialist enterprises at the fair is the strengthening of the food industry, accessing technology, which is limited by the US blockade, said MINAL Minister Alberto López Díaz.
The event includes presentations, signing of accords and key-note lectures.
