Cuba hosts conference on Financing for Development

HAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) The Conference Financing for Development Havana 2024 is under way in this city, where Cuba will demonstrate how useful international aid of this kind is in areas such as energy transition, medicine production and environmental conservation.

Organized by the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP), the Central Bank of Cuba and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the event assembles international financial institutions, cooperation actors and government agencies to discuss potential sources and initiatives to finance development, particularly in Cuba, share experiences and good funding practices implemented by regional and sub-regional development banks, and review Cuba’s challenges and opportunities regarding its access to international financing in the said fields.

Also attending the conference are financial institutions such as the Central American Bank for Economic Integration and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as related national institutions in the region, international funding entities linked to climate finance, and Cuba-based foreign companies and cooperation agencies.
