Ignacio Ramonet: “Change is the norm in communication”

HAVANA, Cuba, May 15 (ACN) “Change in communication is the norm, and those who do not adapt will disappear; given the accelerated pace of technology, what is very new today will be obsolete in 10 years,” Spanish journalist and professor Ignacio Ramonet said at a meeting with Cuban journalists and intellectuals.

The distinguished author of renowned texts such as Cien horas con Fidel and Propagandas silenciosas remarked that the press has a huge challenge vis-à-vis the turbulent period that communication is living through nowadays, as information moves at a higher speed and marks the era of networks and forces journalists to keep up.

Ramonet also referred to the importance of political communication, the use of social networks in the elections of several countries in the region, the current Latin American context, and the danger ahead if Donald Trump wins the U.S. elections.

Cuba and other nations have just published the interview that Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez granted Ramonet on May 11.
