US Coast Guard Returns 23 Irregular Cuban Migrants



Havana, May 14 (ACN) The US Coast Guard Service returned to Cuba a group of 23 irregular migrants to the Orozco harbor in the western province of Artemisa.

The group included 20 men and three women who had attempted two illegal departures from Cuba through Cardenas locality and Mariel both in western Cuba; they all were intercepted by US authorities, according to the Cuban Interior Ministry.

Three of the returned individuals were under probation at the moment they made the illegal departure, so they will be submitted to corresponding courts.

Another two individuals were submitted to the investigation authorities after they were considered presumed criminals who were under probe just before they made their illegal departure.

A total of 545 Cuban migrants have been return to the island this year in 39 operations from different countries of this region.
