Diaz-Canel praises strong ties between Cuba and China

HAVANA, Cuba, May 14 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, said that China's support and assistance in the difficult times the island is going through are actions that only great friends, great brothers and sisters can do.

Receiving on Monday the vice chief of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Chen Zhou, the president expressed that this visit to Cuba confirms the excellent state of political relations between the two nations, according to Granma newspaper.

Diaz-Canel stressed the sensitivity shown by his counterpart, Xi Jinping, and by the Communist Party of China, with the situation of Cuba, and referred to concrete support from the Asian country, including financing, which has made it possible to carry out more than one important project.

"We are convinced that, with the exchanges we have had in all these years, our relations will continue progressing," the head of state emphasized.

For his part, the Chinese party leader commented that his visit is aimed at putting into practice the consensus reached and providing political support to Cuba.

The exchange was also attended by the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda; and the head of the international relations department of the Cuban political party, Emilio Lozada Garcia, who had previously held meetings with Chen Zhou.
