Cuba marks World Insurance Day with technical-commercial seminar

HAVANA, Cuba, May 14 (ACN) Coinciding today with World Insurance Day, the company Cuba International Insurance, S.A. (ESICUBA) will hold Tuesday and Wednesday its traditional technical-commercial workshop, during which its workers present projects and proposals for solutions in order to increase and diversify services.

Since 2000 and biannually, this scientific workshop has been held to update the product portfolio, currently with more than 40 products, so that new ones arise or some of them are modified for the insurance market, Eliana Dominguez Oropesa, director of Development and Marketing of the entity, explained to the Cuban News Agency.

About twenty presentations will be discussed at the meeting, aimed at meeting ESICUBA's requirements, making progress in attracting customers and marketing, as well as assessing trends in the face of economic and social phenomena that make it advisable to set different goals or ways of acting.

Both Dominguez Oropesa and M.Sc. Draisi Ramirez Blanco, general director of the entity, explained that the collective, National Vanguard of the Public Administration Union on 18 occasions, and made up mostly of women, is in permanent movement in terms of the search for solutions and the training and formation of its human resources.

They stressed that in the Cuban business system there is still a lack of knowledge about the diversity of risks to which they are exposed on a daily basis, and of the benefits of being insured in order to mitigate the consequences of any catastrophe or eventuality, and thus maintain the vitality of their operations.

Two events led to the establishment of May 14 as World Insurance Day: the creation on that date in 1908 of the first legislation that attempted to regulate the insurance sector and establish a set of mandatory rules, and years later, in 1946, the celebration of the Hemispheric Insurance Conference.

This was an initiative of the insurance businessmen of the Americas who, two years later in Mexico, decided to officially establish May 14 as World Insurance Day.
