HAVANA, Cuba, May 13 (ACN) Traffic on the Cabaña-Habana road in the Bay Tunnel may return to normal this week, after the completion of ongoing repairs, scheduled for Wednesday, Transport Minister Eduardo Rodriguez Davila said today.
The works, which began last May 4, include the uncorking of the roof vault, cleaning of the steel and application of waterproofing, increase of the lighting system, cleaning of the pipes and walls, as well as pothole patching, inside and outside the tunnel.
According to the head of the sector on Facebook, these works are carried out at night, so the traffic on the Cabaña-Habana road is closed from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.
After concluding the maintenance of the Havana-Cabaña road in April, the work on this other lane completes the remodeling of the Bay Tunnel, a construction opened in 1958 and considered one of the seven wonders of Cuban civil engineering.
