HAVANA, Cuba, May 6 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, paid tribute today to Major General Leonardo Andollo Valdes, who passed away on May 3.
As reported by the Presidency on X, Cuban President and Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, attended Monday the funeral honors at the Veterans' Pantheon of the Colon Necropolis, in Havana.
In previous days, upon learning the sad news, on the same social network Diaz-Canel expressed his condolences to the family, friends and comrades of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), as well as shared his sorrow for the death of the outstanding revolutionary.
Andollo Valdes joined the FAR through the National Revolutionary Militias and, in July 1961, he joined the engineering specialty of the General Staff.
At the institution he served as Head of the Combat Preparation and Operations Section, of the Engineering Directorate; Chief of the General Staff of the Engineering Headquarters; Chief of the Western Army Engineering Section; Second Chief and Head of the Engineering Directorate and Second Chief of the General Staff and Head of the Operations Directorate.
