Cuba and Laos reiterate willingness to strengthen relations



HAVANA, Cuba, May 5 (ACN) The willingness to strengthen the historic ties between the Republic of Cuba and the Lao People's Democratic Republic (LPDR) became manifest during a meeting that both countries held in Havana.

The talks were led by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Laotian VP Bounthong Chitmany, Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of the LPDR, who is paying an official visit to the island.

Morales Ojeda stressed the interest that the PCC attaches to the program of meetings designed for the Laotian delegation, which highlights the excellent inter-party relations between both nations, marked by high-level political links and contacts developed by Cuban and Laotian political and mass organizations.

On his end, Mr. Chitmany conveyed greetings to Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on behalf of Thongloun Sisoulith, secretary-general of the LPDR and president of the Asian country.
