Diaz-Canel attends 42nd edition of International Tourism Fair in Jardines del Rey

JARDINES DEL REY, CIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, May 3 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, is participating at Jardines del Rey tourist destination on the third day of the 42nd edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2024), held from May 1 to 5.

Cuban President is accompanied by Manuel Marrero Cruz, member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, who presided over the session on Thursday, May 2, as well as Juan Carlos Garcia Granda, Minister of Tourism, and the top political and governmental authorities of the central province of Ciego de Avila.

Representatives of the Cuban tourist industry explain to the presiding chair of the event the main results of the operations of the Cuban destination, which shows signs of a progressive recovery with regard to the indicators prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On this occasion, Iyolexis Correa Lorenzo, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in the territory, explained to the Cuban president and other participants in the event the main issues related to the development of the sector in the country, which is among the most prominent in the Caribbean region.

FITCuba 2024, dedicated to Latin America and the Caribbean, is attended by renowned personalities of the sector in the world and the national territory, prestigious companies, travel agents, tour operators' familiarization groups, specialized press media and other guests, who participate in days of negotiations and exchanges.
The promotion of Cuba's national culture and scenic values, including their use to develop various nautical products, are other purposes of the most important professional event of the tourism industry in Cuba.
