Cuban president calls on people to crowd the squares on May 1st



HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 30 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, called today to crowd the squares throughout the country this May 1, to celebrate the International Workers' Day.

On X, the head of state described as moving the days that in Cuba always precede the celebration of the feast of the world proletariat.

In this year's call for May 1st, the Cuban Workers' Federation (CTC by its Spanish acronym) urged to organize militant and colorful rallies in squares, towns and workplaces.

The main event will be held at the Jose Marti Anti-imperialist Tribune, in Havana, in accordance with the call to celebrate the date throughout the country without demanding the massive use of transportation.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, member of the Political Bureau of the Party and secretary general of the CTC, explained that some 200,000 workers and their families, residents of the capital's municipalities of Plaza, Old Havana, Central Havana, Cerro and the areas closest to the one of Playa, will come on foot.

"May Day will be a moment to reaffirm the unrestricted support of the overwhelming majority of the people to their social project and to denounce the criminal nature of the blockade, the main obstacle for the economic and social development of Cuba", remarked the trade union leader when making the announcement.
