A creative, enthusiastic and united May Day

"For Cuba together we create", more than a slogan or a call for action, is a way of dynamic and visible work and confrontation to the problems throughout Cuba these days, on the advent of May Day, in the midst of a pressing and challenging economic environment.

But in any case, the celebration is once again a holiday in this land where workers, with the sweat of their brow, won more than 60 years ago the basic and most transcendental rights, and in which the successive generations fulfill the mission of facing the ravages of an unjust and brutal economic, commercial and financial blockade, while recognizing their internal problems and obstacles, and determined to eliminate them with their own forces. That becomes the path and the duty that urges them.

The date coincides in this 2024 with the organic process of the 22nd Congress of the Cuban Workers' Federation, which in turn is the leading entity of a day of mobilizations that has marched to the rhythm of "For Cuba Together We Create", with the same enthusiasm as always.

This year the commemoration of the International Workers' Day will once again travel with joy and strength throughout the national territory, but in a different way from the tradition that has always distinguished the date in the yard, always marked by gigantic and colorful parades full of fervor and commitment, because adjustments had to be made due to the reduction of transport for reasons already previously made known to the people.

The change was timely announced when Ulises Guillarte de Nacimiento, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and secretary general of the workers' union, presented the call during a ceremony held at the Electronic Industry Company Comandante Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriaran, in the municipality of Boyeros, in the capital's municipality of Boyeros.

It was the moment when, in addition, the leader defined that the important world celebration would be celebrated by redoubling even more the efforts for the economic recovery of the country, a huge challenge of the Cuban people and leadership, and especially of the working class, mainly in food production, increase of exports and obtaining fresh foreign currency, and the reduction of the rising inflation.

The celebration and combat will continue, with the same impetus as always, this time with the holding of rallies throughout the nation. It was learned early on that in Havana, for example, the parade that has always ended at the historic Revolution Square will be transformed into a combative and patriotic act at the Jose Marti Anti-imperialist Tribune on the Malecon, which will be attended by some 200,000 workers from the Plaza, Cerro, Centro Habana, Habana Vieja and Playa municipalities, the closest ones.

Another more than appropriate place full of symbolism to show full support for the projects of the Homeland, for its freedom and sovereignty, for trade union rights, for the progress of the country and for the condemnation of the imperial blockade.

The efforts have already been appreciated in the preparations, including through productive and voluntary work, along with the decision to give a resounding no to manifestations of idleness, delinquency, indiscipline or slowness in the solution of problems.

It is the will to work, to advance and to win, making its way more and more visible, although the road is still long, especially in some areas of priority and decisive sectors of the economy where the results are still waiting, because it is known that working with the conscience is more complex than in the tangible.

Correcting distortions and boosting the economy is a governmental purpose and that of the labor collectives that have been discussing and making projects to collaborate in this special day that has been preceding May Day. And it is a spirit that must be maintained in the future, since the goals are of common interest and nothing would advance without strengthening this urgent synergy and control of those who must control and demand results.

The 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, the 171st anniversary of the birth of Jose Marti and the 85th anniversary of the founding of the CTC, are the milestones of the current celebrations, as well as the ratification of the support and solidarity of Cuban workers to the Palestinian people, attacked in a monstrous way in Gaza by the Israeli occupier, at the cost of tens of thousands of deaths, mainly of children.

And something that characterizes Cubans will be repeated this year with the visit of union representatives from other parts of the planet and the friendly and brotherly exchange with them, under the unwavering banners of convictions and love for justice, and the search for solutions to the noble causes of the planet, especially in solidarity with the workers or unemployed who do not enjoy laws and rights already won in Cuba a long time ago.

The International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba has been a beautiful part of that program inspired again in memory of the martyrs of Chicago, assassinated on May 1, 1886, as a result of their struggle for the inalienable rights of the working class. These banners, we repeat, will preside over International Workers' Day in squares, towns and labor centers.
