Díaz-Canel praises work of Cuban Ranger Corps

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 10 (ACN) “Born of the Rebel Army and heir to the traditions of our mambi fighters, the Cuban Forest Ranger Corps celebrates its 65th anniversary today,” Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel wrote in message on X praising the commitment of this agency to the protection of the country’s natural heritage.

On his end, the occasion of the date, the Ministry of the Interior congratulated the forest rangers and called them guardians of Cuba’s nature, security and internal order.

Established on April 10, 1959 under Act 239—known as the "Plan for Reforestation by the Rebel Army"—so that a large-scale program to plant trees across the country could join the then-ongoing Agrarian Reform, the Forest Ranger Corps has among its main purposes the recovery, conservation, promotion and use of the country's renewable natural resources, as well as the protection of mountains, the reforestation of soils and the exploitation of forests as permanent sources of raw materials and steady jobs for the benefit of the economy and national progress.
