CIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, Apr 2 (ACN) April is coming and the central province of Ciego de Avila will once again host the Piña Colada Festival from April 3 to 7, a cultural event that beyond the fusion music will bring to the public other music such as symphonic, popular and traditional, choral, in addition to the manifestations of dance and theater.
Arnaldo Rodriguez Romero, president of the organizing committee of the event, thanked in a press conference the political will of the authorities of the province to carry out these celebrations, with great efforts, even in the midst of the complex economic situation the country is going through.
The director of the group Arnaldo y su Talismán also highlighted that 108 artistic groups are expected to participate, including soloists, groups, dance ensembles, artistic directors and presenters, of which approximately 70 % of the artistic talent will be from the territory, represented by the catalog of the Music and Shows Commercialization Company, Musicavila.
He added that an estimated 20 groups and soloists of national and international relevance will join the event.
Artists from three Latin American countries will participate in this XXI edition of Piña Colada: Panama (Grupo Matices and Son Kayori), Dominican Republic (Henya) and Puerto Rico (Orquesta Bongo).
A new feature of this year's edition will be the presence of choirs, as well as theater companies.
Other main activities of the Piña Colada 2024 Festival will be the usual Concert Day of fusion, alternative and contemporary music, the Popular Pineapple Festival, the Latir Avileño parade celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Jose Marti Art Instructors Brigade and the cultural tour of communities, student centers and centers of social interest.
This year's edition will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Recording and Musical Editions Company (EGREM), the activities for April 4th and the 12th Congress of the Young Communist League, as well as tributes to the musicians Nelson Oney and Eliseo Simon from this central province, and to the Cuban-American musician Pablo Menendez, director of the Mezcla Group.
