HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 25 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, arrived today, for the third time in 2024, in the westernmost province of Pinar del Rio.
Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, the President visited the municipality of Minas de Matahambre, informed the Presidency on X.
At the Los Burros Basic Cooperative Production Unit (UBPC), which belongs to the local Tobacco Collection and Processing Company, the President called for an increase in food production.
Diaz-Canel assured, in talks with local workers, that if more food is produced for the population, prices will go down.
During his tour, the president learned that the entity has many potentialities to generate profits, among them, to make better use of the land, which is currently only used at 70 %, and to develop the livestock activity.
In January and February, as part of his working visits around the country, the Cuban head of state evaluated the priorities for 2024 in the Pinar del Rio municipalities of San Luis and Consolacion del Sur.
