HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 21 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, continued his tour of the municipality of El Salvador, in Guantanamo province, as part of a process of visits to economic and social objectives in the territories.
Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, the president began the visit at the mini-industry El Colibri, which belongs to the Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA) Jesus Menendez.
He learned that at the moment the entity is exploiting the tomato harvest peaks, although it also plans to process other items.
Diaz-Canel talked with Jose Orestes Rancoult, who is in charge of the CPA Guantanamera, and inquired about the capacity of this industry, the workers' salaries and the cooperative's productions.
As part of his stay in the eastern municipality, the President visited the Basic Business Unit (UEB) Molino de Beneficio del Cafe, where they grow Robusta and Arabica coffee and are making ventures in the production of organic coffee.
According to what was explained to the head of State, the entity did not fulfill the production estimate at the end of 2023, but it has a prepared and qualified group, which has the challenge of demonstrating the potential of the socialist state enterprise.
The President visited the Mountain Development Center, founded 30 years ago by Army General Raul Castro Ruz, with a great potential to join with very good results the local development strategies.
The institution has microbiology, plant biology, ecological-social and physical-chemical laboratories and its staff is composed of a PhD in Science and 18 master's degree holders.
