HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 19 (ACN) With the presence of Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, and Manuel Marrero Cruz, member of the Political Bureau and Cuban PM, the 19th International Fair Informatica 2024 was opened today at the Pabexpo fairgrounds.
Ariadne Plasencia Castro, president of the Informatics and Communications Business Group (GEIC by its Spanish acronym) and executive secretary of the event, said that this exhibition section proves Cuba's interest in the development of information and communications technologies (ICT) and the willingness of professionals in the sector for the growth of Cuban society.
Plasencia Castro considered that the fair, both in the Convention and in the Fair, allows the promotion of Cuba's image as a nation in conditions and with wide capacity for the development of ICTs for the improvement of the citizenship.
In the Fair, she added, there are some 49 stands, of which 15 belong to foreign companies from a dozen countries, while from Cuba there are state entities and new economic actors linked to the generation of goods, services and information technology solutions.
Diaz-Canel Bermudez and Marrero Cruz toured several exhibition areas, among them those of the companies Xetid, Copextel, Softel, the Cuban Telecommunications Company S.A., Haitech and the University of Informatics Sciences.
They were accompanied by Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, deputy prime minister, and Mayra Arevich Marin, head of communications.
Informatica 2024, an event organized by the Ministry of Communications, GEIC and the Cuban Informatics Association, will conclude on March 22.
