Cuban authorities mark International Women's Day

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 8 (ACN) A recognition to the daily work of women in building a better country stands out today in the messages of Cuban authorities and organizations, in honor of International Women's Day.

On X, Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the country, described Cuban women as conquerors of the impossible, and added: "You inspire us, challenge us, encourage us".

Esteban Lazo, President of the Parliament, sent his congratulations to the women of the country, especially to the deputy delegates and other authorities of the People's Power.

For his part, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, on the same platform, extended a warm hug to Cuban women, in a publication in which he evoked three heroines of the Revolution: Haydee Santamaria, Celia Sanchez and Vilma Espin.

Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, in his congratulations expressed that Cuban women are makers of the impossible, and masterfully combine tenderness with firmness and courage.

Since Thursday, 323 delegates from all over the country are gathered at the Havana Convention Center for the 11th Congress of the organization that brings together women in the country, under the slogan "Cuban women, conquerors of the impossible".

Teresa Amarelle Boue, member of the Political Bureau and secretary general of the Federation, explained that the main objective of the congress is to evaluate the results of the work carried out during the last five years, to highlight their achievements and challenges in the face of the current situation caused by the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the U.S. government against Cuba.
