Diaz-Canel attends closing of 11th Cuban Women's Federation Congress



HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 8 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, is attending today the closing ceremony of the 11th Congress of the Cuban Women's Federation (FMC by its Spanish acronym), which is being held at the Convention Center in Havana.

Cuban leader is accompanied by members of the Political Bureau Esteban Lazo Hernandez and Manuel Marrero Cruz, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and prime minister of the country, respectively, on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Friday, the opinions of the four working commissions will be presented, which were dedicated to address the economic empowerment of women, the preventive educational work of the FMC in the formation of values and community social work, and attention to youth.

The more than 300 delegates from all over the country participating in the congress will approve the central report and the work projections for the next five years.

Founded on August 23, 1960 by the heroine Vilma Espin Guillois (1930-2007), Cuban Women's Federation gathers around four million women in the country.
