Cuba already holds Cuban Press Day celebrations



HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 5 (ACN) A pilgrimage to the grave of Juan Gualberto Gomez (1854-1933), at Colon Cemetery, in Havana, began today in Cuba the day for the Cuban Press Day, March 14, and the figure of the patriot and journalist, known as the black brother of Jose Marti, was remembered.

On the 91st anniversary of the death of the illustrious intellectual, Bolivia Tamara Cruz Martínez, first vice president of the Cuban Journalists Association (UPEC by its Spanish acronym), told the Cuban News Agency in an exclusive interview that bringing the new generations of the profession closer to the study of the figure of Juan Gualberto Gomez is essential, given his extensive work against imperialism, racism and the search for truth.

The UPEC first vice president acknowledged that the implementation of the slogan "To Cuba with the truth" will distinguish the Day for the Cuban Press Day, and emphasized the need to involve all the provinces and base delegations of the country in the activities of the event.

The meeting was presided over by Ricardo Ronquillo Bello, president of UPEC; Tubal Paez Hernandez, honorary president of the organization; other press executives, students and members of the association.
