Francophonie Month continues in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba,, Mar 5 (ACN) To make Cuban friends and partners know the cultural diversity that characterizes the French-speaking world, a cultural air where 330 million people speak French in the five continents, is the purpose of the Day of the Francophonie in Cuba, which began on Sunday with an opening concert at the theater of the National Museum of Fine Arts.

Alexandre Guillochon, director of the Alliance Française de Cuba, the institution that together with the French Embassy to Cuba organized this event, which will take place until March 28 in Havana and Santiago de Cuba, told the Cuban News Agency today.

Talks, conferences, book presentations, literary teas, music, cinema, visual arts, comics, exhibitions, concerts, forum and other activities are part of this day, which will also further strengthen relations and celebrate the richness, dynamics and diversity of the French-speaking world.

According to Guillochon, the month of La Francophonie has the support and gathers cultural and artistic proposals from French-speaking diplomatic entities in Cuba such as the French Alliance of the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, as well as the Ministry of Culture with its councils and institutes, the Office of the Historian of the City, the university sector with the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the University of Havana and the Higher Institute of International Relations (Isri).

France will host in October 2024 the 19th summit of the Francophonie, for the first time since 1991 at the International City of the French Language, in the castle of Villers-Cotterêts opened by President Macron on October 30, 2023, he added.

The 2024 edition of the Day of La Francophonie in Cuba, highlights the intention of the organizers to offer a space for exchange, rapprochement and cooperation between different French-speaking people and cultures through artistic manifestations such as music, visual arts, literature, cinema, among others, concluded the interviewee.
