HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 27 (ACN) Participants at the 24th Habano Festival, opened on Monday at the Havana Convention Center, will tour today tobacco-growing areas in the westernmost province of Pinar del Rio, which stands out for being the largest producer of that exportable product.
The Vueltabajo region, as it is also known, has excellent lands to harvest the plant and, above all, to produce a quality leaf used to make the famous Premium cigars that the Habanos S.A. Corporation markets worldwide.
Cuban tobacco lovers from dozens of countries, including specialists, businessmen, distributors, designers and communication professionals, will learn about the agricultural process, planting, harvesting, curing and manufactured production.
In the municipalities of Consolacion del Sur, San Juan y Martinez and San Luis are located the main centers of cultivation and production of Havana cigars, while renowned brands such as Vegas Robaina, Romeo y Julieta or Cohiba have distinguished and promoted the export of this product and encouraged the celebration of international events such as the Habano Festival.
This traditional event, which includes a trade fair at the Havana Convention Center, an international seminar, visits to renowned factories in Havana, presentations of new products, contests and exclusive pairings, will be held until Friday.
The 24th edition is dedicated to the 50th and 55th anniversaries of the renowned Quai D'Orsay and Trinidad brands, respectively, and to the 30th anniversary of the Habanos S.A. Corporation.
