HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 25 (ACN) “There is much to build and to recover in Cuba, as well as many wounds to heal in construction, and you have the potential, capacity and strength to deal with it”, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez said to construction enterprises and their staff.
The Head of State led the meeting to review the results of the Ministry of Construction (MICONS) in 2023 and its plans for 2024 based on government priorities to right existing wrongs and 's Priorities to correct distortions and boost the economy.
Díaz-Canel urged his audience, made up of about 500 managers and construction workers from across Cuba, to put their heads together in order to make steady progress in their field, step up exports, and secure contracts in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and other regions, taking into account that the blockade will not be lifted, as well as to fulfill their mission in ways that make no room for indiscipline, unlawfulness and other negative tendencies.
The President also stress the need to get construction enterprises involved in the production of affordable, quality goods and services for the population with a view to support the economy and help curb inflation and high prices.
“MICONS should make strides toward the implementation of the three pillars of governance—digital transformation, institutional communication, and science and innovation—and base its human resource management on young people’s preferences in terms of training,” he remarked. “Planning is sacred (…) as is quality in construction, which is often disregarded. And you must pay attention to urban planning, landscaping and design in every new community.”
