Cuba Appreciates Kenyan President for Support of Special Envoy

Havana, Feb 22 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez thanked Kenyan president William Ruto for his fast welcoming of Cuban Parliament president Esteban Lazo as High-Level Special Envoy.

Lazo traveled to Kenya to clarify media reports about the death of Cuban doctors Assel Herrera and Landy Rodriguez under a drone attack in the locality where they were staying after their abduction in April 2019.

“We have confidence in his willingness to support efforts to clarify the situation facing Cuban doctors Assel Herrera and Landy Rodríguez.,” the Cuban Foreign Minister wrote on X where he uploaded pictures of the meeting between Lazo and the Kenyan head of state https://rb.gy/e83kih.

Rodriguez also reported on X about a phone conversation he had with Somalia’s Foreign Minister Ali Mohamed Omar in which he dealt with the necessary cooperation to clarify the situation of the two doctors.

According to media reports citing the US African Command, in the evening of February 19 US drones attacked the Somali locality of Dilib, where the doctors were said to stay.

Neither the US administration nor the US armed forces have issued any public statement confirming or denying the media reports. No information has released either been released on the circumstances or characteristics of the military operation.
