Cuban Journalists Association presents jury and candidates for National Journalism Awards



HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 19 (ACN) The members of the jury and the candidates for the Jose Marti and Juan Gualberto Gomez 2024 National Journalism Awards were presented this morning in Havana.

Juan Carlos Ramirez Heras, vice president of the Cuban Journalists Association (UPEC by its Spanish acronym), presented the 16 members of the jury, selected at the 11th Congress of the organization, with Magali Garcia More as president.

Ramirez Heras announced that 30 candidates from different press media from all over the country are competing for the Jose Marti National Award for Life's Work.

The 53 communication professionals competing for the Juan Gualberto Gomez Award for the work of the year are divided into different categories: nine in the written press, 10 in radio, 12 in television, three in photojournalism, seven in graphic journalism and 12 in hypermedia.

The winners of both awards will be announced on February 23 and the prize-giving ceremony will be held on March 14, Cuban Press Day.

Bolivia Tamara Cruz, first vice president of UPEC, presented the program of activities for the Cuban Press Day, to be held March 5-18, which carries the slogan "He who speaks the truth serves the Homeland best" and the hashtag #ACubaConLaVerdad.
