Diaz-Canel called for greater ties with the base in Cuban western province

ARTEMISA, Cuba, Feb 16 (ACN) We are implementing a system of work more connected with the base, to have more impact, explained Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, after visiting the western municipality of San Cristobal.

The idea is to systematize and collegiate the best experiences, in order to address the problems, because we have to change the complex realities of today, the president said.

That is why this meeting is more like a workshop, in order to outline objectives and dreams and join wills, to promote solutions and move forward faster, he stressed.

After touring the 30 de Noviembre sugar mill and the La Paila fish farming station, the head of state held the aforementioned exchange with cadres and militants of the Party in the province and the municipality.

Without militancy, the Party is lost, said Diaz-Canel when addressing the shortcomings in the growth process, and illustrated the timeliness of adding young people to the ranks, with which to ensure unity and continuity.

The First Secretary of the Party also referred to the urgency of distributing idle lands and the unavoidable alternative in these difficult times of multiplying the supply areas in labor centers, only 157 out of more than 300 in the province: why do some have and others do not?

He insisted that, both to improve the functioning of the Party and to produce more food, a work system is required to break inertia, bureaucracy, contemplation and tolerance to what is badly done.

He mentioned the strengths that San Cristobal has, in industry, livestock, forestry, land and, above all, its people.

For her part, Gladys Martinez Verdecia, member of the Political Bureau of the Party and first secretary in the province, explained the work system of the body related to growth, referred to the training of cadres and activism in social networks, an area that can contribute more to the positioning of Artemisa and the defense of the Revolution.

She highlighted that, despite the difficulties in 2023, the territory decreased the budget deficit for the second consecutive year and complied with the mercantile circulation.

Referring to the measures to encourage the reincorporation and permanence of workers in priority sectors, she said that 53 colleagues and 100 professionals were incorporated into the health and education sectors; however, "much work remains to be done in view of the deficit of doctors, nurses and teachers in several places in the province.
