Díaz-Canel: “This should be another Operation Truth”

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 13 (ACN) Speaking at the 2nd International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Leftist Parties and Movements—organized by the journal Cuba Socialista, the theoretical and political organ of the Communist Party of Cuba and attended by delegates from 35 countries and various media outlets and publications—Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez said that the meeting should become another Operation Truth, just like the one convened by Cuban leader Fidel Castro in the early days of the Revolution.

“This second conference should lead to an action plan to make the resulting agreements sustainable and to make the most of the history of our peoples in order to expose Imperialism’s offensive,” he pointed out.
The Cuban leader seconded the words of several participants about the need that left-wing publications produce the theory required to confront imperialist aggression and foster joint action based on the defense of the truth.

“You can count on Cuba for such purposes,” he stressed, and seized the opportunity to condemn once again the barbarism and genocide of Israel's bombings in Palestine and urged those present to denounce these crimes in all spaces and media outlets.

Likewise, Diaz-Canel presented examples of the enemy’s media campaigns to distort the Cuban realities in order to sow confusion and deceive, and he endorsed academic Ignacio Ramonet’s assertion that [the left] must wage and win this battle in the digital social networks.

Tuesday’s session featured debates on how to counteract Imperialism’s media war and smear campaigns and to come up with joint editorial actions to salvage and protect historical memory and revolutionary theory for the sake of national sovereignty and social justice.
