HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 12 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, attends the working meeting of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic for 2023.
In the presence of Salvador Valdes Mesa, member of the Political Bureau and Vice President of the country, Gladys Bejerano Portela, Comptroller General of the Republic, presents the main achievements, shortcomings and challenges of this State body, whose mission is to ensure the proper and transparent administration of public funds and the superior control over administrative management.
The Comptroller's Office has functional independence with respect to any other body, is subordinate to the President of the nation and is vertically structured throughout the country.
It also deals with complaints from the population related to acts of alleged administrative corruption or other illegalities linked to the improper use of material and financial resources.
