HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 11 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel congratulated the Chinese people and President Xi Jinping for the Lunar New Year and conveyed his best wishes of prosperity for the People’s Republic on the occasion of the Spring Festival and the arrival of the Year of the Dragon.
In his message, Diaz-Canel remarked that Cuba-China ties are bound to become stronger in 2024 for the benefit of their peoples and referred to their relations as an example of solidarity and cooperation between socialist nations based on joint efforts to keep them special.
The Cuban leader also thanked his Chinese counterpart for his congratulatory message on the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and reiterated his invitation to President Xi to visit the island.
In a recent appearance on China’s TV channel CGTN, Cuban ambassador Alberto Blanco recalled that both nations are "good friends, good brothers and good comrades", an adjective also used by President Xi Jinping in reference to bilateral ties, and remarked that Cuba is proud to be the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to establish diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China founded by Mao Zedong.
