Cuban President Calls to Counter Any Action Foreign to the Revolution

Havana, Jan (29) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel urged to face anything foreign to the spirit of the Revolution in Cuban society.

The call was issued at the first Council of Ministers’ meeting this year, which announced a group of political processes over the next months to back the implementation of government measures aimed at correcting distortions and relaunch the local economy, according to the Cuban presidency.

Based on recent remarks by Cuban Revolution leader, Army General Raul Castro, at the rally for the 65th anniversary of the Revolution, the idea is the coherent advancement in the implementation of a group of economic measures and the consideration of social, ideological and economic issues.

The President said that the upcoming process includes debates at communist party organizations, administrations, work places, by students and communities, so he called to evaluate, reflect and propose with rigor and creativeness solutions to the problems affecting each locality.

The head of state insisted in the need to consider the proposals and ideas of the people and explained that the measures are necessary and cannot be postponed because they will correct deep structural deviations or distortions which harm the country’s economic performance.

The measures recently announced include actions aimed at boosting exports and the national production of goods, as well as redistributing the local wealth.

They are measures to stabilize the country’s macro-economy by protecting social achievements of the revolution, said the President who rejected the attempts by the enemy to describe the measures as a neo-liberal package similar to other actions in the region and the world.

The first measures to have been implemented included pay increases for education and health workers.

The President said that the measures are implemented when all conditions are created including the differentiated and favorable treatment for vulnerable sectors of the population.
