HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 29 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Republic of Cuba, attended on Sunday in Havana the day of productive work held throughout the country to commemorate the 171st anniversary of the birth of Jose Marti.
The President was accompanied by members of the Young Communist League and the Communist Party of Cuba.
The Presidency of the Republic stressed on X that, after visiting five municipalities of the country during this week and attending the traditional march of the Torches the day before, Diaz-Canel and the Secretary of Organization of the Party, Roberto Morales, participated in the productive day.
After working on plantain weeding, sweet potato planting, harvesting of viands and vegetables, young people and workers met with the top leadership of the political organization.
Cuba celebrated on Sunday a special day of homage to the National Hero Jose Marti with the participation of cultural institutions, work centers, schools and youth organizations.
On Sunday morning, floral offerings on behalf of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro, President Miguel Diaz-Canel, the Council of State and Ministers, and the Cuban people were laid in the Santa Ifigenia cemetery in Santiago de Cuba, where the mortal remains of the National Hero are kept.
