HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 28 (ACN) On the occasion of the 171st anniversary of José Martí’s birth, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez underscored the currency of the Cuban National Hero’s ideas.
Díaz-Canel recalled the words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro on January 28, 1990 about the importance of keeping in effect Martí’s thoughts, ideas and virtues.
Other Cuban leaders also posted messages in memory of the renowned poet and journalist and Apostle of Cuban independence—born in Havana on January 28, 1853 and fallen in combat against the Spanish army on May 19 and, 1895—who bequeathed very valuable books, articles and letters to the future generations.
