Cuban VP paid brief visit to Ethiopia



HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 28 (ACN) After a tour of several African countries, Cuban vice president Salvador Valdés Mesa made a brief stopover in Ethiopia, where he met with Demeke Mekonnen, Ethiopian deputy prime minister and foreign minister, and visited the Cuban Embassy in Addis Ababa.

In messages posted on X, Valdés Mesa and Mekonnen remarked that they reviewed issues related to bilateral cooperation and their prospects of development and talked about friendship between the two countries.

During his visit to the Cuban Embassy, the vice president paid tribute to Cuba’s National Hero José Martí, on the 171st anniversary of his birth.

Valdés Mesa had attended the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement and the 3rd South Summit of the G77+China in Uganda and then paid official visits to Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
