US Authorities return 47 Irregular Migrants to Cuba

Havana, Jan 25 (ACN) US authorities returned 47 irregular migrants to Cuba in two air and sea operations on Thursday, according to the Cuban Interior Ministry.

A group of 37 individuals, including six women, were flown back to Cuba while another 10 men were returned by the US Coast Guard Service to the Orozco harbor in the western province of Artemisa.

During the first 25 days of 2024, a total of 142 irregular Cuban migrants have been returned to the island in nine operations—four flights from the Cayman Islands, one charter flight from the US and five ops by the Coast Guard Service.

Cuban authorities keep their firm commitment to a safe and orderly migration and alert about the danger and risks for life entailed by illegal departures by sea.
