HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 24 (ACN) Upon receiving Enrique Santiago, secretary-general of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) and member of the Spanish Congress, Ana Maria Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), stressed the interest in strengthening ties with the Spanish Parliament.
Mari Machado also explained to her guest the National Assembly’s priorities for 2024 and its goals regarding bilateral relations with its counterparts in Spain and thanked him for his solidarity and support in the fight against both the cruel and extraterritorial U.S. blockade of Cuba and the inclusion of the island in the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
She also stressed the need to unite against the regrettable and difficult situation in Palestine and to marshal support for just causes that call for sensitivity and humanism worldwide.
On his end, Enrique Santiago underlined the good relations with the Cuban legislature and his intentions to strengthen alliances to confront the imperialist offensive with a proper vision of the principles of respect in international cooperation bodies, and told his host about the strategies designed to strengthen ties with Cuba and its people for the sake of peace.
