Cuba Reiterates Support to Colombia Peace Talks

Havana, Jan 22 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez reiterated on Tuesday on X his country’s support to the Colombian peace process.

In his message on the social media, the head of state expressed his wish that the Sixth Round of Peace Talks between the delegations of the Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrilla group, underway in Havana, achieves new advancements on the road to peace for the Colombian people. https://twitter.com/DiazCanelB/status/1749524085200314418

Cuba previously hosted the Third Round of Peace Talks, May 2 to June 9 last year which agreed to a six-month bilateral ceasefire and the civil society participation in the peace process.

This new round will focus on extending the ceasefire period which expires on January 29, and on issues like the Colombian society’s participation in the construction peace, the general plan to implement the accords and the topic related to the victims of the conflict.
